It was a fabulous weekend down in Kyoto, spent together as a family, enjoying the beauty of the autumn maples. Ashlyn was an angel on the 2 1/2 hour Shinkansen (bullet train) ride, charming everyone around us, as usual. We visited many many temples and gardens, admiring the flaming yellows and reds and oranges, along with the masses. Our biggest surprise was getting to see these amazing trees lit up at night! It was the thing to do. It played a slight bit of havoc on bedtime, but thankfully it's dark before 5 here, so that gave us plenty of time to view the wonders before dinner and bedtime. We were thankful for the adventure and ability to marvel at God's beauty and mostly just to be together again.
