We were determined to get a camping trip in before Hunter left. So we packed everything and everyone up on a Friday afternoon and headed east to the foothills of the Cascades at Colonial Creek campground. We were fortunate enough to get a site right on the water where Ashlyn could play. Even though it was July, it was quite cold and it got down to the 40's at night! We bundled up the kids and Ashlyn even slept in her very own sleeping bag! We roasted marshmallows, cooked dinner over the fire, and had a very chilly night's sleep. After a hike and junior ranger program the next morning, we packed it all up again and headed home.
It was a great adventure but next time we'll have to stay longer for all that work (and maybe go when it's a bit warmer).
socks on his hands, hat (mostly) on his head, 3 layers, plus a blanket - he slept very well; probably the best of any of us!
