Our plans to head east over the mountains for a few days were thwarted by a week of rain, so we decided to stay west of the Cascades where the weather was actually, surprisingly, going to be a lot nicer. We spent a night in Seattle where we explored the Pacific Science Center (sorry, no photos), Pike's Place, and bought a futon. The next day, we decided to head north, up to Ferndale (just north of Bellingham), to Hovander Homestead Park. What an amazing place to explore! It was a perfect sunny day so we brought a picnic lunch, hiked to and around a "lake" which was more of a wetlands but still really beautiful, and then stopped to see the chickens, roosters, ducks and flowers on our way out. It was a fabulous day to get spend together exploring our area!
