We were fortunate enough to be able to move right back into our old house in Anacortes, as our renters agreed to move out early. We decided that this would be the perfect time for the hardwood floors and new countertops we'd been dreaming about for years, since we would be gone for 2 weeks in Virginia, and the house was completely empty. So, while we were away, the new floors were installed and the old countertops were removed. The new counters were coming a bit later, so we had to live in the house without any counters, a kitchen sink, stove, or dishwasher (we're still even now getting used to the idea of a dishwasher again, so that was no big inconvenience), and no fridge (until we gave in and plugged it in where it sat - in the family room). SO, we were without a lot of things, including ANY of our personal belongings aside from what we brought in our suitcases, or a kitchen, for quite a while. Sort of like camping in the house.
During this time, we had to get creative with keeping Ashlyn entertained. Slowly, our things started arriving, friends and neighbors loaned us toys, but it was nice during that time to have so much space around us. Ashlyn fully utilized and enjoyed the space as well.
Here are a few of her favorite moments with few possessions:
car races on new floors in empty rooms
fridge magnet fun, even if the fridge is on the carpet
playing in daddy's creation from all the boxes lying around
there are always books to be read,
and balloons, boots, and sunglasses are quite entertaining,
as are mama's shoes and a red tutu!
